UPVC Patio Doors

Opening up the home to enjoy the garden can make a real difference to your living space and, in most cases, can be done reasonably easily by installing a new set of patio doors. Upvc Patio doors are great for letting in loads of extra light and help to make any room look & feel bigger.

Improvements in design, such as super smooth sliding panels mean the doors now have almost “effortless” opening and, when you have closed them, the tight fit panels create draught proof seals helping to cut down on those ever increasing heating bills.

Although not as wide as Bi fold designs, Tilt & slide patio doors give a slightly improved opening size compared to tilt & turn patio doors, but offer the same unique ventilation action of the moving door frame tilting inwards. The tilting action is restricted by a safety limiter which prevents the frame from tilting backwards beyond a certain amount.

Safety & Security

  • It’s important to consider the well-being of your family so new patio doors now have excellent security & safety features built in.
  • Sliding tracks have rebates to prevent lifting of the patio door, “all-round” multi-point locking systems ensure the doors stay closed and unwanted intruders are kept out.
  • Toughened safety glass will be fitted as standard to all areas where there the glass reaches floor level & especially where there is “high traffic” or where there may be children playing.

Energy Efficiency

Energy saving is another important consideration, as glass is not as good as solid walls for keeping in heat, so in order to get the best performance out of the patio doors you should consider including Low-E glass that has a coating to “bounce” your heat back into the house, during cold weather & to reflect heat off the outside in hot weather.

(a good example could be Pilkington K Glass™), up to 20mm gap sealed glazed units with an inert gas filling such as Argon. Many other special glazed units are available. These steps should ensure you keep more of the cold weather out and more of your heat in.
